Hong Kong-based developer Swire Properties who has previously developed the exclusive condos at Brickell Key at Claugthon island, the only island on Brickell. Is now in front of the biggest construction site on Miami and South Florida.
As the main new site on Brickell the citycentre will contain a walking mall and more property, the construction has begun 2013, The CitiCentre would consist of over 4,600,000 square feet (430,000 m2) part retai, commertial, residentia and even hotel space with spaces right on the heart of town. Turner Construction Company, with Dragados USA, has been selected as the contractor to build the foundation and underground parkings at the site, which is worth approximately $500 million.
Former owners of Bal harbour mall have recently acquired 500,000 square feet of retail space of the Brickell city center which will be partially finallized on target for 2015. The complex will consist of four towers, Arquitectonica as the architect. two of the additional lots were bought by Swire in 2011 (Brickell Tennis Club and Eastern National Bank building) in order to qualify for Special Area Plan zoning, making the entire development site over 9 acres (36,422 m2), with the additions also giving the project direct access to the Eighth Street Metromover Station.
Brickell CityCentre is a $1.05 billion mixed-use development. Strategically located in the center of the Brickell financial district, this is the single largest project currently underway in downtown Miami.
